Welcome to the Orange Room!

The Orange Room is the toddler room. This room is filled with more challenging experiences to fit the curious nature of your young toddler. With a maximum of twelve children ages between 2 – 3 years old with two staff, this room is filled with activity and laughter. Outdoor time is one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon to help release pent up energy and grow strong muscles. Children learn through play, so opportunity is given for plenty of dress up, wet & dry sensory play, lots of blocks & toys of all kinds. Positive caregivers encourage children through the developmental stages, by singing, reading stories, and playing games.

Children at this age love to sing songs, and love repeating the same songs over and over. They also love to have books read to them. They play name the body part, or the piece of clothing. 2 year olds like to play sorting games, sorting by color, shape, touch, colour and size. Children at this age want to become independent.  Encourage them to get dressed and undressed, help with household tasks, turn lights on and off, open and close doors.  They are starting to learn about their feelings, so give them words for their feelings and show that you understand.  At this stage children are also learning to make decisions, so offer simple choices throughout the day.  For example, we would ask  whether they want to wear the blue pants or the green pants, or if they would like juice or milk with snack.
